Week of March 18th

I hope you all are enjoying this warmer weather as much as I am! I love it when the weather starts to warm up and the windows start to open up. :) The warm weather is just in time for Spring Break next week!

ELA:

This week in ELA we will continue to read The One and Only Ivan. I am so proud of my students and how hard they have been working on getting their work done on time! This week we will have a spelling test on List X, but that is it for quizzes this week.

When your student returns from Spring Break, their March Reading Calendar will be due. Please make sure they are getting that filled out and ready to turn in.

Math:

We are continuing our work on converting fractions to decimals and understanding how they work together. Your student's homework will be reviewing the skills that we are learning in class and can be found on the white board in the virtual class. There is no Math 4 Today quiz this week.

Roaring Reader:

Roaring Reader logs are due to me by this Thursday the 21st. This allows me time to get everything compiled and ready to turn in to Roaring Springs. Please make sure that your student's reading log is turned in on time.

Science Fair:

This year the Science Fair will be on Thursday, May 16th. We will begin working on these projects when we come back from Spring Break. This is a project that will mostly be completed at home, however it will be broken into 4 steps so that I can teach each step of the scientific process as we go. Most steps have at least 1 week to complete with the exception of Step 1 that only has one day, so please be on the look out for that.

RAD:

Our students are working hard on their RAD music performance here at school. Our schedule will be a little different for the few weeks leading up to that. That show will be on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00pm in the AUX gym. Make sure you get it on your calendar now!

Week of March 11th

Hello! I hope you are all surviving Daylight's Savings. I am not a fan myself lol. I had lots of sleepy kiddos this morning, but we still had a great day! I still am having a hard time believing we are already in the 4th Quarter of the year. I am really enjoying my time with these kiddos and am not ready for them to move on yet!

ELA:

This week in ELA we are going to really be focusing on vocabulary and how we can learn vocabulary through the use of Greek and Latin morphemes. We will not have a ReadWorks assignment this week, but will be reading The One and Only Ivan. This is a quiz week so we will have a Morning Warm Up quiz in addition to our regular spelling test.

Math:

This week in math we are going to continue working on multiplying a fraction by a whole number. I am so pleased with how my students are doing with this skill so far! We will have a Math 4 Today quiz this Thursday. Homework this week will reflect the lessons we are doing in class.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

This Thursday from 3:30-6:30 I will have drop-in style conferences. I would love to see you to discuss your student's progress as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have. I will also be available on Friday from 8:00-12:00. If you would like to schedule a time to meet on Friday, please just send me a quick email and we will get that scheduled! Quarter 3 grades will be posted tomorrow morning at 8.

Changes in Quarter 4:

In Quarter 4 we will be slightly changing our day. Instead of having a designated Must Do time of our day where students can work on missing work or homework, we will be using that time to get caught up on our writing. We have fallen behind and I want to make sure I cover all of the content before my students move on. That means that if your student doesn't finish their assignments in class, they will need to do them at home. I have let my students know that they can bring their novels, novel studies, or Idaho History Binders home as long as they come back the next day in the same condition. I want to make sure they (and you the parents) know that they are responsible for replacing anything that is lost or damaged once it leaves my room. As much as I would love to be able to provide books and supplies for all my students, I just don't have the budget to do so. :) Students will also have less time to get homework done in class. This is part of the Student Handbook however, so I am hoping it won't be too difficult of an adjustment. This will also help prepare my students for 5th grade and then middle school.

Commitment Letters:

Your student brought home a Commitment Letter today that they need to have filled out by you and then bring it back signed. This lets the school know how many positions to fill when they do the lottery. Please make sure you get that filled out and returned with your student by this Thursday.

Roaring Reader:

If your student is working towards getting their free ticket to Roaring Springs, they need to get that to me by Thursday the 21st. That will allow me time to get all of the student logs for our elementary school compiled so that I can get them submitted to Roaring Springs on time.

Week of March 4th

Thank you so much for working so hard with your students to get caught up on missing work! I came back from my trip to lots of things turned in, and I love that! I had an amazing time in Atlanta at my training and I am so excited to bring the things I learned back to the amazing staff and students here! Your students will probably be talking about a few of those today. :)

ELA:

This is a very typical week for ELA. We will have a spelling test on List U on Thursday, but no Morning Warm Up quiz this week though.

February Reading Calendars were due today. Please send me an email telling me how many minutes your student read if that is easier for you.

Math:

We started our Topic9 Test today. Students will have the opportunity to make corrections tomorrow. I am so excited to see how much they have learned about fractions so far!

2023-2024 PARENT SURVEY DUE MARCH 8th @ 4:

We deeply appreciate you taking the time to give your honest feedback on the 2023-2024 Parent Survey. We use the feedback to help us reflect and grow as a school community. This information is used and considered for setting strategic plan and continuous improvement goals in alignment with our accreditation process.  Your feedback really does matter. Please click here to take the parent survey.  This survey will close on Friday, March 8th at 4PM.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

Next week we have Parent/Teacher Conferences next Thursday from 3:30-6:15 and Friday from 8:00-12:00. I am going to be treating the Thursday time as a drop-in time. I will be in the room and available to talk to you about your student if you would like to meet with me. I am going to be using Friday to schedule times if I have concerns that I would like to be able to discuss with you. If you don't receive an email from me this week to schedule a time to come in on Friday, feel free to come in whenever works best for you on Thursday. If those times don't work for you and you would like to meet, please send me an email and I will see if I can get you in during one of my prep times. :) I LOVE to meet with parents and have the opportunity to share how wonderfully your student is doing in class so I am hoping to have a great turn out!

Roaring Reader:

Roaring Reader logs are due on Thursday, March 21st. Your student is welcome to bring those in as soon as they are completed.
